Marc Lagrange (1957–2015) was a Belgian fine art photographer celebrated for his sensuality, technical mastery, and emotionally charged imagery. Born in Kinshasa and based in Antwerp, he left engineering in the 1980s to dedicate himself to analogue photography, favouring large-format cameras and rare materials such as the 8×10 Polaroid. His meticulously staged sets—whether in his Antwerp atelier, the grandeur of historic European locations, or discreet, atmospheric interiors—were intimate stages where his muses expressed both vulnerability and strength. Central to his work was a deep trust between photographer and subject, most notably with long-term muses Inge Van Bruystegem and Carole, whose portraits embodied mystery, elegance, and authenticity. Lagrange’s imagery balanced refined sensuality with playful decadence, from fur-clad luxury to spontaneous, mischievous moments. His career included major retrospectives such as XXXL – Maison Lagrange (2011) and Timeless Beauty (2016–2017), alongside appearances at TEFAF Maastricht, Art Miami, and Art Paris. Published works like Polarized (2009) and Senza Parole (2015) charted his evolution from opulent sensuality to serene, sculptural stillness. Since his passing, the Atelier Marc Lagrange has preserved his legacy. His photographs remain timeless meditations on form, light, and intimacy—crafted with precision and imbued with an enduring sense of beauty.
