Jojo Corväiá is an American artist based in Berlin. With a background in architecture, graphic design, photography, and numerous other artistic mediums, Corväiá has shifted his attention to ceramics in the past four years, quickly garnering international acclaim for his uniquely beautiful and characterful ceramic works. Corväiá’s research and experimentation in ceramics centre around the ideas of asymmetry, roughness, irregularity, and imperfection. Working entirely manually, even eschewing a potter’s wheel, he shapes the pottery using just the force of his hands and fingers. This intimacy with the material allows him to be guided by feelings rather than appearance, creating a dialogue between the artist and the natural material and a space for pure expression.
