Jasmine Rossi

Jasmine Rossi (*1966), was born in Switzerland, grew up between Italy, Spain and Germany, studied at the London School of Economics and worked at the European Parliament as a political journalist. But life was to take an unexpected course for her on a journey which she took in 1994 into the wilderness of the vast South American continent, a voyage that would change her career and life forever. Following the explorations of Humboldt and Darwin Jasmine rode across the Andes, rafted down wild rivers, trekked through empty deserts and lost herself in immense rainforests until she finally reached Patagonia – the land of legend that is known as the “uttermost part of the earth” - being closest to Antarctica. She was so impacted by this pristine wilderness with its 360-degree horizons, that she moved into a tiny ranger’s cabin atop a gigantic cliff overlooking the tempestuous South Atlantic Ocean where she lived for two years, culminating in her first photo book “The Wild Shores of Patagonia”. Here, at the “end of the world”, she learnt to “see” the incredible perfection and harmony of the natural world and to respect the process of the earth’s natural cycles. - It is this deep respect and awe for nature that is visible in all of Rossi’s photographs.
