Marc Lagrange was never interested in documenting reality. He wanted to construct an entirely new one.
Born in 1957 in Kinshasa and later based in Antwerp, the artist initially pursued a successful career as an engineer before making the courageous decision to devote himself entirely to photography. This transition is more than a biographical curiosity. It shaped the very foundation of his artistic practice. His engineering background fostered an exceptional understanding of structure, precision and problem solving, while his innate artistic sensibility transformed these qualities into an unmistakably poetic visual language. Every photograph reflects the meeting of discipline and imagination, calculation and intuition.
