Petra Gut Contemporary is thrilled to unveil an exquisite exhibition by the world-renowned photographer David Yarrow, capturing the very essence of St. Moritz and its iconic landmarks. This much-anticipated collection features among other mesmerizing images taken at Badrutt’s Palace, Cresta Club, Dracula Club, Bond-inspired scenes, and various snapshots that encapsulate the soul of St. Moritz, Switzerland.
“Switzerland”: Yarrow presents a striking photograph taken at the austere Ospizio railway station in the Bernina Pass. Set against the backdrop of Switzerland’s highest railway station, this breathtaking image juxtaposes the rugged landscape with the glamour
and elegance of the model, creating a mesmerizing visual narrative.
“The Goats of St. Moritz”: Through Yarrow’s lens, St. Moritz reveals itself as a town where glamour and inclusivity coexist harmoniously. The series of striking photographs, taken at the renowned Renaissance Bar at Badrutt’s Palace, brilliantly juxtapose the town’s elite with its artisans and farmers, creating a captivating narrative steeped in Brigitte Bardot glamour and the enduring allure of St. Moritz.
“Badrutt’s”: A photograph that harks back to St. Moritz’s storied history, Yarrow presents an image that transports viewers to the opulence of Badrutt’s Palace in the 1960s. This historic institution has been a hub for Europe’s winter enthusiasts for over a century, and Yarrow’s photograph beautifully captures the hotel’s rich heritage.
“Dracula”: Yarrow delves into St. Moritz’s nightlife with a lens trained on the legendary Dracula Club. This exclusive establishment, often considered one of the world’s finest nightclubs, embodies the town’s spirit of revelry and freedom. “The White Turf”: Yarrow’s lens captures the electrifying White Turf horse races on the frozen lake beneath Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. About the artist
David Yarrow is recognised as one of the world’s best-selling photographers. He has found his true comfort zone in capturing the animal and human world in a fresh and creative way.
A key part of his success has been creating art through partnerships with a philanthropic objective and this has enabled him to work with leading figures in sport, fashion and Hollywood such as Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Ciara and Russell Wilson, and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Since 2019, charitable donations from the sale of David’s images have exceeded $10m. David Yarrow was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1966. He took up photography at an early age and as a 20-year-old found himself working as a photographer for The London Times on the pitch at the World Cup Final in Mexico City. On that day, David took the famous picture of Diego Maradona holding the World Cup and, as a result, was subsequently asked to cover the Olympics and numerous other sporting events.
His distinctive work in recent years has earned him an ever growing following amongst art collectors. Yarrow is now represented by some of the top contemporary galleries around the world. In the Autumn of 2022, Rizzoli published David’s third book, Storytelling.
