"Natural Abstractions Switzerland" are mixed media artworks that capture the forests and landscapes of Switzerland. Claps’ signature process begins with photographs taken in varied forests and mountains. His technique recalls the Byzantine gilding practices, updated for the 21st century by combining them with photographic and digital processing technologies, and a unique gold foil process he developed for this series.
For the past eight years, Claps has been working on a series entitled “Natural Abstractions”, an homage to traditional Chinese and Japanese landscape painting. Combining photography with mixed media processes, the resulting works are poised between the figurative and the abstract.

"Natural Abstractions Switzerland" sind Kunstwerke, die in einem aufwändigen Herstellungsverfahren unterschiedlicher Techniken hergestellt wurden. Claps' charakteristischer Prozess beginnt mit Fotografien, die er in verschiedenen Wäldern und Bergen aufgenommen hat. Seine Technik erinnert an die byzantinischen Vergoldungspraktiken, aktualisiert für das 21. Jahrhundert, indem er sie mit fotografischen und digitalen Verarbeitungstechnologien und einem einzigartigen Goldfolienprozess kombiniert, den er für diese Serie entwickelt hat.
In den letzten acht Jahren hat Claps an der Serie "Natural Abstractions" gearbeitet, eine Hommage an die traditionelle chinesische und japanische Landschaftsmalerei. Durch die Kombination von Fotografie und Mischtechniken entstehen Werke, die zwischen figurativ und abstrakt wechseln.
